Energy Assessment
Yield assumptions get locked into financing before anyone measures the site. GroundWork establishes the ground truth baseline lenders require — before capital flows.
GroundWork offers turnkey resource assessment for solar development prior to construction, providing essential inputs for PV energy modeling. Our ground datasets are of unparalleled quality, verified through published research, detailed reports, and metadata. Over sixty gigawatts of solar plants have successfully used GroundWork’s high-quality ground data to complete projects. We design our revenue-grade measurement data specifically to help clients reduce the uncertainty in their energy production forecasts.
GroundWork datasets include global horizontal irradiance (GHI), PV soiling rates, albedo, diffuse horizontal irradiance (DHI), and other ancillary measurements.
The GroundWatch Data Quality Program is the cornerstone of GroundWork’s solar resource datasets. We ensure our datasets are unparalleled by combining rigorous onsite maintenance with meticulous daily quality control.
With over 500+ deployments, we have the metrics to back it up. GroundWatch boasts:
We ensure our clients achieve the highest return when it is needed most through stellar percentages of system uptime, irradiance availability, and maintenance compliance.
Lender’s engineers, including Black & Veatch, DNV/GL, Leidos, Luminate, RINA, Wood/Sgurr and UL, recognize our independent, qualified data packages as the gold standard. GroundWork is is proud to be one of eight members of the World Bank Group Roster of solar measurement firms.
GroundWork’s soiling kit evaluates soiling conditions at project sites to identify trends, weather event effects, and module cleaning requirements at specific locations. Our standard soiling kit includes a pair of PV modules: one cleaned at designated intervals and the other left to soil naturally.
For clients considering bifacial module technology, GroundWork offers an albedometer system that integrates with the Rey MET system to measure albedo and model bifacial gains.
For cold weather project sites, GroundWork provides ultrasonic snow depth measurement as an option with our Rey MET system. This aids in site-specific performance modeling by addressing snow coverage on panels and benefiting from increased albedo after fresh snowfall.
GroundWork offers the Weather Benchmarking Report to establish contractual values for what constitutes “extreme” weather during plant construction. The report provides solar plant owners and their contractors with a basis for determining acceptable construction delays due to extreme weather.
Testimonial
“[GroundWork has] people with so much field experience. We couldn’t hire someone full time with that level of knowledge.”

Acceptance is when liability transfers from EPC to owner. GroundWork validates what you're accepting before schedules force the decision.
Undetected performance loss without proof is unrecoverable. GroundWork provides the baseline to find it while remedies still exist.
When hail hits, insurance claims and warranty disputes follow. GroundWork provides independent event documentation and lab testing that holds up under scrutiny.
Not all modules perform as rated. GroundWork verifies the watts you paid for, so performance has a paper trail.
